The biggest names in the business: Palace Pier

The breeders who’ve used him and the mares they’ve sent: they’re the biggest names in the business, too

World Champion miler and five-time G1 winner Palace Pier will arrive back from Australia shortly, ahead of his second covering season at Dalham Hall Stud.

His first season could hardly have started better! He currently has 132 high quality mares scanned in foal. 41 are Stakes winners including G1 winners Speedy Boarding, Great Heaven, Gonbarda, Incarville, Intricately, Integral and Minorette.

Also in foal are the dams of 34 Stakes winners including the dams of Cracksman, Dream Castle, Acclaim, Avilius, Farhh and Polarisation.

Palace Pier had the highest percentage of quality mares of any first-season sire in 2022.

The breeders who used him in his first year at stud include the likes of Cheveley Park, Newsells Park Stud, Whatton Manor, Moyglare Stud, Shadai Farm, Flaxman Stables Ireland, Meon Valley Stud, Juddmonte Farms, Haras de Saint Pair, Blue Diamond Stud, Ecdurie des Monceaux and Ballylinch.

Let us also not forget just how brilliant he was on the racecourse: undefeated at two, Champion at three and the first horse this century to win back-to-back runnings of the Prix Jacques le Marois – the race won by Dubai Millennium, Dubawi and of course Palace Pier’s own leading sire, Kingman.

Palace Pier will stand the 2023 season at a fee of £50,000, Oct 1, SLF. If you are interested in sending a mare to him next year, call the Nominations team or fill out our easy to use form
