Another winner for Hard Spun

Hard Weekend becomes her sire’s 8th winner

The two-year-old filly Hard Weekend, by Darley stallion Hard Spun, broke her maiden at Hipodromo de Monterrico in Peru on Saturday, August 6. The filly won comfortably by four lengths in her first time out over five furlongs on dirt defeating older fillies as she is a Northern Hemisphere bred. She is trained by Juan Suarez Villaroel and is owned by Stud El Penon.

Weekend Gold, dam of Hard Weekend, is a granddaughter of fantastic broodmare Weekend Surprise, dam of A. P. Indy, and is also a half-sister to the G1-placed horse Mambo In Seattle. Weekend Gold visited another Darley stallion, Henny Hughes. in 2011 .

Hard Spun stands at Darley at Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky and shuttles to Darley Australia, where he is based at the moment, and soon will be starting the 2011 Southern Hemisphere season. The sire is now represented by eight winners including the Group 2 winner Red Duke in England .
