Another Stakes win for Cape Cross’s Windhoek

Godolphin colt takes Anatolia Trophy

Four-year-old Cape Cross colt Windhoek has won or placed in all of his starts this year and he continued that fine record and also added a third Stakes victory to his CV on 6 September when landing the Anatolia Trophy (a local G2 contest) in Turkey.

Racing at the rear of the field under Mickael Barzalona, Saeed bin Suroor’s charge began to make headway as the field approached the straight and passing long-time leader Hakeem close to home, was eased down crossing the line to record a half-length victory.

Dubawi’s Danadana was a close third. Bred by Horizon Bloodstock, Windhoek is out of the Stakes-placed mare Kahlua Kiss and is from the family of G1 winners Special Ring and Poliglote.

He is one of 20 Black type performers this year for Cape Cross, who is also sire of G2 winners Guest Of Honour and Star Lahib.
