All-the-way G2 success to Sword Of Light

New Approach filly scores second Stakes success at Flemington

A hard-fought victory in the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington on 16 September cemented Sword Of Light's position as one of the best Australian offspring by her sire New Approach.

Ridden to perfection by Damien Lane, Sword Of Light set the pace and then rallied strongly when joined in the final 150m to pull away for a clear victory.

Sword Of Light was bred by her owner Hesket Bloodstock, whose principal David Moodie successfully raced most of her family, including her dam Joyeuse, who is half-sister to G1 winner Flamberge, G2 winner Sunburnt Land and G3 winner Durendal.

Sword Of Light was already one of New Approach’s 33 Stakes winners, having taken the G3 Blue Diamond Preview as a two-year-old. He has also sired 22 Stakes performers in 2017 alone including a pair of smart juvenile Masar and Hey Gaman in Europe.
