Progressive son of Blue Point wins G3 National Day Cup

Colourful King lands Sha Tin sprint feature

Colourful King, a five-year-old son of Blue Point, graduated to a Black Type winner on Thursday, 1 October when landing the G3 National Day Cup. Run over 1000m on Sha Tin’s straight track, he quickened in the last 200m to win going away by one and a quarter lengths.

Making his first start of the season, the Australian import has graduated through the grades in Hong Kong, winning seven times in total with career earnings of over €1,500,000.

Bred in Victoria by Hesket Bloodstock, Colourful King is now the fourth Stakes winner bred out of the Stakes-placed mare Hard Rider.

Blue Point is enjoying a banner 2026, siring 32 Stakes performers including three that have struck at the highest level. Blue Bolt has carried all before her winning three G1s, three-year-old colt Samangan was last seen winning the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest, and his juvenile son Folsom Blues was the impressive last time out National Stakes hero. All three could be running this weekend in G1s at either Newmarket or ParisLongchamp.
