Folsom Blues, juvenile son of Blue Point, looked incredibly impressive when running away with the G1 National Stakes over 7f at The Curragh on Sunday 13th September.
Settled towards the rear after leaving the stalls, Folsom Blues always looked relaxed while easily keeping pace with the field under jockey Joey Sheridan. As they set sail for home, he travelled very strongly on the outside of runners while passing each of his competitors with remarkable ease.
Upon hitting the front, the Joseph O'Brien-trained colt looked pure class when stretching clear of a quality field and going away to win by a bloodless six lengths.
Folsom Blues is a homebred of his owners, Al Shira'Aa Racing Limited. His dam, Liwa Palace (Oasis Dream) was a Stakes performer in France and he is half-brother to Listed Surrey Stakes second Greek Mythology (Pinatubo) and multiple Stakes winner, Cote Atlantique (Kodiac).
Folsom Blues was Blue Point's Sixth G1 winner and his second G1 winner in Ireland on Champions Weekend 2026, following on from Blue Bolt's demolition of the field in the G1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown the day before. Since 2000, Blue Point's progeny have won more northern hemisphere Stakes races at a mile or less than any other stallion at this stage of their career. He has 161 juveniles in 2026 and they made up to a million guineas in the sales ring.
