Perfect Power added a new winner to his record on Friday, 4 September when his two-year-old daughter Girl Scout ran out the gutsy winner of the one-mile Fillies’ Novice at Haydock.
Karl Burke’s charge was keen early on but was settled in third position under Clifford Lee. Finding herself short of racing room as the field began to quicken, she came with a superb late run once the gap appeared to collar Princess Lottie on the line and win by a short head.
Girl Scout was bred by Petches Farm and was purchased for 110,000 guineas by Richard Ryan at Tattersalls October Book 2. She is out of the winning Shamardal mare Girls Talk, now dam of three winners and herself a half-sister to three Black Type performers.
Perfect Power is also sire of fellow winners Mithaaly, Underdog and Tropical Crown, all rated 80 or above.
Perfect Power was an outstanding juvenile himself, winning the Norfolk at Royal Ascot before annexing the G1 Prix Morny and G1 Middle Park. He went on to win the G1 Commonwealth Cup back at Royal Ascot at three.
