More top-level victory for incredible Blue Bolt

Blue Point's daughter continues in her quest for domination

Blue Bolt added a further G1 to her already-impressive CV on Sunday 2nd August when pulling out all the stops to land the Prix Rothschild over one mile at Deauville.

Andrew Balding's charge has  taken her racing career into the stratosphere with four consecutive wins, including the G1 Falmouth Stakes last time out and a total of five Stakes successes on her scoresheet. Following a fairly level break, Colin Keane was happy to sit upsides Coronation Stakes winner Precise as Moon Target carved out the pace. As the field entered the final three furlongs, all appeared to have to work to lessen the leader's advantage. With Precise making the first move, it looked as though Blue Bolt may have to settle for the runner-up spot, but the four-year-old dug deep well inside the final furlong before capturing the lead and scoring a half-length over her rival as they crossed the line.

Bred by C-Squared Investments, Blue Bolt is out of the Listed and G3 winner Mayhem and a half-sister to Listed winners Sky Angel (Dark Angel) and Sea Theme (Sea The Stars). Bought as a yearling in 2023 from Arqana for €400,000, she has fulfilled the promise of her pedigree.

Since 2000, Blue Point has sired more Northern hemisphere winners at a mile or less than any other stallion at this stage of their career. With 161 juveniles in 2026 who made up to a million guineas in the sales ring, and Blue Bolt carrying all before her on the track, he is sure to excel even further.
