Blue Point colt remains unbeaten with G2 July Stakes victory

Inner City Blues posts impressive win at Newmarket

Blue Point’s exciting two-year-old son Inner City Blues remained unbeaten in fine style on the opening day of Newmarket’s July meeting, landing the G2 July Stakes.

Settled in third of the three runners early on in the six-furlong contest, William Buick sat patiently before asking his mount to quicken inside the final two. Inner City Blues held off his rivals impressively, winning by a length and a quarter from the Coventry runner up Adaay Of Scarlet with multiple winner Hickory Lad taking third.

Bred by Attlehill Ltd T/A Ridge Manor Stud, Inner City Blues is out of G3 Prix Eclipse winner Souvenir Delondres, already dam of G3 winner and G1 Phoenix Stakes second Dr Zempf. He was a €900,000 purchase for Godolphin at the Arqana Breeze Up Sale.

Blue Point has been enjoying an outstanding run of late, siring two winners at Royal Ascot headed by G2 Ribblesdale Stakes heroine Blue Bolt. He was also responsible for the Coventry third Royal Heritage and Rayevka, who came agonisingly close when second in the G1 Diamond Jubilee.

A Breeding Right to Blue Point is currently up for auction at Darley Winning bid, which is open for bidding until 2.30pm on Monday afternoon.
