Ghaiyyath sires a new Stakes winner on a successful day at Ascot

Infraad lands Listed Noel Murless, with Pink Larkspur his latest winning juvenile

Ghaiyyath recorded a double at Ascot on Friday, 2 October, headed by Infraad’s victory in the Listed Noel Murless Stakes – a first Black Type win for the progressive three-year-old colt.

Infraad was settled towards the rear of the field under Tom Marquand and travelled well throughout. Once approaching the final furlong marker, William Haggas’s charge took the lead and was hard pressed in the closing stages by eventual second Galiyan, but dug in deep to win by half a length.

Infraad is out of the Stakes-winning Dansili mare Ferdoos, also dam of Dubawi’s G1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Nezwaah, herself the dam of G2 winner Meydaan.

Earlier on the card, two-year-old filly Pink Larkspur opened her winning account when landing the seven-furlong Novice by a length and a quarter.

A 150,000gns Tattersalls October Book 1 purchase for Godolphin, she was bred by Lynn Lodge Stud and is the second winner out of Orchid Gardens, a half-sister to G1 Prix de l’Abbaye winner Wizz Kid.

Ghaiyyath has been enjoying a very successful year, siring 21 individual Black Type performers, headed by G1 winner Opera Ballo. Just last week he sired two Stakes winners when Respond took the Foundation Stakes at Goodwood before Alobayyah landed the Rosemary Stakes at Newmarket.
