Darley sires dominate in G3 Prix Thomas Bryon

Al Zanati (Dubawi) wins from Bourbon Blues (Space Blues), with Pacifica Pier (Palace Pier) third

The final French juvenile Group contest of the year, the G3 Prix Thomas Bryon, took place on Tuesday, 18 November and saw a Darley-sired trifecta as Al Zanati (Dubawi) led home Bourbon Blues (Space Blues) and Palace Pier’s son Pacifica Pier.

Godolphin colt Al Zanati was settled towards the rear of the field under William Buick, as his stablemate Pacifica Pier set the early fractions in the nine-furlong contest. As the field quickened for home, Bourbon Blues unleashed a tremendous burst of speed to take up the running but couldn’t quite hold off Al Zanati who won by a head, with Pacifica Pier finishing well to take third.

Al Zanati won on his racecourse debut at Newmarket’s July course in August (pictured), before finishing second to Hankelow (Night Of Thunder) in the G3 Autumn Stakes, having raced very keenly.

A Godolphin homebred, Al Zanati is out of the UAE Oaks winner Divine Image (Scat Daddy), who also has a winning daughter by Dubawi in Circle Of Dreams.

Dubawi has once again enjoyed an outstanding year, siring six G1 winners in 2025 including Delacroix, Notable Speech and Rebel’s Romance. He also reached the incredible milestone of 200 Group winners this year and led all stallions by average at the yearling sales.

His son Space Blues has made a superb start to his stud career, becoming the fastest from his sire line to record a G1 winner, following Power Blue’s win in the Phoenix Stakes. Space Blues stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €15,000, Oct 1, SLF.

Palace Pier has also had a very successful first year, siring eight Black Type performers including G1 filly Royal Fixation and Group-winning duo A Bit Of Spirit and Dr Omran. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £32,000, Oct 1, SLF.
