Stakes victory for Kataniya

Daughter of Raven’s Pass wins the Listed Prix de la Seine

Raven's Pass sired a new Stakes winner on Sunday May 10 when his three-year-old daughter Kataniya stepped up in class to land the Listed Prix de la Seine at Longchamp. Run over 2200m, there was a very slow early pace and after making the running early, she settled into second. Taking up the running at the top of the straight, she gamely held off all challengers to beat Lady Of Kyushu with Moi Meme (Teofilo) gaining valuable Black-Type back in third.

Kataniya has now won two of her three starts and holds future entries in both the G1 Prix de Diane and the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Owned and bred by the Aga Khan, Kataniya is a daughter of the Stakes-winning mare Katiykha (Darshaan) and a half-sister to the G2 Blandford Stakes heroine Katiyra.

Kataniya’s victory cemented the outstanding success Raven’s Pass has had with mares by Darshaan. All four of his runners on this cross have been victorious and he now has two Stakes winners, with record-breaker Steeler preceding today’s heroine. Raven's Pass is currently standing at a fee of €20,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
