New winner for Masar at Chelmsford

Free Speech digs deep to shed maiden tag

Free Speech was a new winner for first season sire Masar on Saturday, 14 October, as she dug deep to shed her maiden tag over ten furlongs at Chelmsford.

The filly, who is trained by Ed Dunlop, broke slowly and travelled towards the rear of the field, however with two furlongs to run she made progress up the centre of the track and battled hard in the final furlong to get her head in front in the final strides to prevail by half-a-length in the handicap event.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Limited, Free Speech is out of the Listed-winning mare Lady Liberty (Shirocco), herself a half-sister to Champion three-year-old colt Wigmore Hall and G1-winner Ocean Road.

Derby winner Masar, has so far sired seven individual winners, including unbeaten Golden West, who won the Derby “Wild Card” Conditions race on his last start.
