New Stakes winner for Teofilo

Three-year-old filly Yaazy lands the Listed Prix Joubert at Saint-Cloud

Teofilo’s daughter Yaazy has put up some very promising performances this year and on 14 September, she gained a well-deserved first Stake win when landing the Listed Prix Joubert, run over 12 furlongs at Saint-Cloud.

Soon in front under Antoine Hamelin, the John Hammond-trained filly was in command throughout and simply could not be caught, running on impressively to win by three quarters of a length.

Winner of her maiden on her racecourse debut back in May, Yaazy has twice been placed at Group level, finishing second in the G3 Prix Minerve and third in the G2 Prix de Malleret. A step back up in class now seems likely after today’s victory.

Owned and bred by Shadwell, Yaazy is out of the Stakes-placed Darshaan mare Tanaghum, also dam of G3 winner Tactic. Yaazy’s half-sister Zahoo is herself dam of Cape Cross’s multiple Stakes winner Convergence.

Teofilo has been enjoying a very successful 2015 with his 19 Stakes performers including the multiple G1 winner Pleascach, star Australian three-year-old Kermadec and the highly-rated G1 performer Arod.
