Iffraaj filly wins Listed Gore Guineas in New Zealand

Belle Miraaj claims first Stakes success

Three-year-old Iffraaj filly Belle Miraaj continued to build on her impressive record, claiming her first Stakes success in the Listed Gore Guineas in New Zealand, January 17.

Sent out favourite after a last-start third in the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas, Belle Miraaj settled back in the field in the early stages and spotted the leaders a big start at the half-way point. A masterful ride from jockey Jamie Bates allowed the filly to make up many lengths turning for home and she strode to the front at the 200m mark before going on to win comfortably.

Belle Miraaj has now had six starts for four wins and two minor placings. Bred by Haunui Bloodstock, she is the fourth foal and first Stakes winner for Carnegie mare Beach Dance, a half-sister to Stakes performers Florinda and Getty.

Belle Miraaj is the 26th Stakes winner for Iffraaj who sired three G1 winners in 2014 in Rizeena, Benvenue and Turn Me Loose. Iffraaj is standing at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £22,500 October 1st SLF.
