Royal Ascot-bound colt easily wins on his debut at Goodwood
Mark Johnston unleashed another potential juvenile star on Thursday 19 May when his Exceed And Excel colt Yalta made a perfect start to his racing career at Goodwood.
Jumping to the lead straight from the stalls in the six furlong contest, he knew his job well and only had to nudged out to the line to defeat another debutant in Repton by two lengths, with previous easy winner Afandem back in third.
The first foal of the unbeaten juvenile Lacily (Elusive Quality), he will now head to Royal Ascot in a bid to emulate his paternal half-brother Buratino, who landed the G2 Coventry Stakes for the stable last season.
