Singspiel

Foaled at Kildangan Stud in 1992, Singspiel was a son of In The Wings - also a Darley-homebred - and the Canadian Horse of the Year and Champion Older mare in America, Glorious Song.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Singspiel was an outstanding racehorse who was the first to truly contribute to the internationalisation of racing through his globetrotting achievements. He won G1 races in Canada, Japan and Europe in addition to achieving victory in the world's richest race, the Dubai World Cup.

After his retirement from racing, Singspiel also excelled as a stallion. When his first-crop son Moon Ballad triumphed at Nad al Sheba in 2003, he became the only Dubai World Cup winner to sire a Dubai World Cup winner.

He is sire of 13 G1 winners in all, including star filly and Dubai Sheema Classic winner Dar Re Mi, Papineau, victorious in a top notch running of the Ascot Gold Cup, Fillies’ Mile winner Hibaayeb and Rewaaya, a super-fast G1-winning sprinter in Australia.

Recently, Singpiel’s name has once again come to the fore courtesy of the star miler Solow, winner of the 2015 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot and the G1 QEII Stakes on Champions Day.

Singspiel's final crop of foals were born in 2010.
