Great Wish became the latest Stakes winner for Champion Sire Night Of Thunder, with a very convincing victory in the Listed Dubai Sprint on Friday, 30 January.
Always travelling well under Mickael Barzalona, the Bent Olsen-trained entire swept to the front once entering the home straight and ran on superbly to win the six-furlong contest by a length and a half.
Great Wish was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud and is out of the G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner and G1 Cheveley Park second Anthem Alexander, dam of five winners from five foals to race. The mare is herself a half-sister to smart sprinter Dandy Man.
Great Wish becomes the 19th individual Black Type winner from Night Of Thunder’s 2021 crop – a number that can only be equalled by his great sire Dubawi and higher than any other stallion worldwide. He is also Night Of Thunder’s 80th individual Stakes winner globally.
Night Of Thunder had an outstanding 2025, becoming Champion Sire of Britain and Ireland for the first time and siring five individual G1 winners, headed by outstanding colt Ombudsman and 1,000 Guineas heroine Desert Flower.
