Promising first-season sire Space Blues continued his excellent start at stud when his juvenile colt Drago Blues became his latest Stakes winner with victory in the Listed Premio Campobello over 1,800m in Milan on Saturday, 22 November.
Already placed in Group company on his previous start, Drago Blues sat in mid-division in the eight-runner field. He was asked to improve with 500m to run and took up the lead inside the final 200m, holding on to win by a short head.
Bred by Plantation Stud, Drago Blues is out of the Stakes-placed Casamento mare Simplicity and is from the family of G1 St James’s Palace Stakes winner Zafeen (Zafonic).
Already the sire of 19 individual winners from his first crop, Space Blues has registered five Stakes performers including Power Blue, the highest-rated juvenile by a first-crop sire this year following his victory in the G1 Phoenix Stakes.
Space Blues stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €15,000, Oct 1, SLF.
