Trophy triumph for Ahzeemah

Son of Dubawi becomes his sire’s 29th Group winner

Ahzeemah, the consistent four-year-old son of Dubawi, took the step up in class to Group level in his stride when gamely landing the Nad Al Sheba Trophy at Meydan. Held up in midfield off a very slow early pace, he made his move turning for home and held off the determined challenge of Certerach (Halling) for a narrow victory.

Bred by G O’Brien, he was purchased as a foal for 60,000Gns, and is out of the Stakes placed mare Swiss Roll, a daughter of Entrepreneur. Swiss Roll also has a yearling colt by Invincible Spirit’s best juvenile son Vale Of York and is due a foal this season by Haras du Logis stallion Manduro.

Standing the current season for £75,000 Oct 1st SLF, Dubawi has now sired 29 individual Group winners. This includes a pair of top-flight victors heading for the Dubai World Cup, last season’s winner Monterosso and Hunter’s Light. Another of his G1-winning sons Poet’s Voice is celebrating his first foals being born this season and are the products of 38 Group or Listed performers and 34 dams of Stakes horses.
