Three Stakes winners in three days for Dubawi

Almanaar victorious in Saint-Cloud to continue red-hot streak for his sire

After a Black type double at Newbury on Saturday, highlighted by Night Of Thunder’s fantastic victory in the G1 Lockinge, Dubawi wasted little time in further cementing his position as the world’s leading sire of Stakes winners as his son Almanaar landed the Listed Prix de Pontarme at Saint-Cloud.

A Shadwell Stud homebred, the three-year-old was always travelling well and moving clear of his rivals at the top of the home straight, kept to his task superbly to win by a length and a half. Taniyar (Shamardal) ran a creditable third.

Almanaar is out of the G2 Prix de Sandringham winner and G1 Falmouth Stakes third Baqah, also dam of multiple winner Funon (Cape Cross).

With 19 Stakes winners to his name so far in 2015, Dubawi leads all other stallions in the world, with Medaglia d'Oro in second with 15 and Shamardal in fourth with 13. In Europe, Dubawi and Shamardal are joint leading sires of Stakes horses, with 17 apiece.
