Shardam is a new winner for Too Darn Hot

Juvenile filly makes all to win at Haydock

Too Darn Hot has experienced an exceptional start at stud, which continued on Saturday, 30 September as he sired his 21st individual winner when his juvenile daughter Shardam, who was having her second run, made all to break her maiden over eight furlongs at Haydock Park.

Running for the first time for her new trainer Archie Watson, Shardam broke smartly and soon took up the lead, travelling strongly the filly began to stretch the field with just over four furlongs to run and remained unchallenged to score by a length and a half under a hands and heels ride by Jason Hart.

Bred in France by The Niarchos Family, Shardam was a €100,000 purchase from Goffs Orby Yearling sale. She is out of the unraced-mare Transhumance, who is responsible for three other winners and is herself a daughter of G1 heroine Coup De Genie who produced G1 winner Denebola, G3-performer Loving Kindness and Moonlight’s Box (dam of G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero, Bago).

Currently sitting second in the standings for leading first crop sire, which is headed by Blue Point, Too Darn Hot has so far sired an incredible four Group winners, including G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine, Fallen Angel, whilst on Thursday his son, Alyanaabi, claimed the G3 Tattersalls Stakes. His G2 winning daughter Darnation, looks to add further Black Type success to her c.v. as she lines up in tomorrow’s G1 Prix Marcel Boussac.
