One desirable Man

Manduro proves popular in his first season at Haras du Logis

Manduro enjoyed tremendous success from the stable of Andre Fabre in France, winning a brace of G1s in his adopted land, so it comes as no surprise that breeders have been sending him some of their best-bred stock during his first season at Haras du Logis in 2013.

Retired as a World Champion, he spent his first five seasons standing at Darley's Irish Kildangan Stud and Dalham Hall Stud in England. His oldest progeny are now four and he has enjoyed some fantastic results already in France.

From his first crop, he sired Mandaean, winner of the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud as a juvenile; Fractional, unbeaten at a mile including the G3 Prix Quincey and still in training with Andre Fabre; Trois Lunes, a G3-winning filly who took the Prix Vanteaux; and Stakes-class filly Orion Moon.

Already from his second crop, who have only just turned three, he has Baradari, a progressive Aga Khan-bred/owned Stakes filly and Global Bang, a Group colt and a native of Germany, who won a competitive conditions race at Deauville on his only start in France.

With this plethora of success he was always going to be popular, and has many well-related mares already confirmed in foal. These include a pair of Darley-owned Group winners, firstly Zahrat Dubai, winner of the G1 Nassau Stakes and dam of Stakes winner Modeyra (Shamardal), who was also a very close third in the G2 Prix de Royallieu. Also in foal to him is Shane, an unbeaten Group-winning juvenile in Germany.

Other mares to have been already scanned in foal include, Oekaki, a Listed-winning maiden mare owned by Mrs Magalen Bryant; Moortown, dam of last season's G3 Prix de la Grotte third Miss Carmie; Haras de la Perelle's winner Spring Wave, a half-sister to G1 winner Gentlewave; Rotti, a Dalakhani half-sister to Reggane; and Co Blue Splash, Stall Ullmann's daughter of multiple G1 winner Gold Splash.

With many more mares having already been covered and awaiting their first scan, it is an exciting time for Monsun's best ever son.

Manduro stands at a fee of €10,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
