New Group winner for Shamardal

Taniyar takes the G3 Prix du Pin at Longchamp

Taniyar, a three-year-old son of Shamardal, became the second Group winner owned and bred by the Aga Khan to win on the Longchamp card when running out the cosy winner of the G3 Prix du Pin. Run over seven furlongs, Taniyar was held up near the rear before bursting through rivals close to the finish to record a thrilling win. His victory supplements Manduro’s son Vazirabad, who had won the G3 Prix de Lutuce earlier in the afternoon for the same connections.

Taniyar’s dam Tanoura (Dalakhani), who won the Listed Galtres Stakes, has started in tremendous fashion at stud with her first two foals now winning at Group level. Her two-year-old, the Dubawi filly Tanaza, is unbeaten in two starts including the G3 Silver Flash Stakes and is entered in the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes next weekend.

Shamardal’s 23 Stakes winners this year including the world’s best turf miler Able Friend, Singapore G1 winner Dan Excel, with his 11 Group winners including Balios, Dariyan, Amaron, Tryster, French Navy and Fintry.
