It’s a double for Dubawi

Amber Orchid becomes his second Group winner of the day, landing the G3 Jacaranda Handicap

A few hours after Dubawi’s remarkable daughter Catkins added an astounding 11th Stakes win to her record, another of his daughters made sure it was a very successful Saturday for her sire, as Amber Orchid took the G3 Jacaranda Handicap at Turffontein in South Africa.

Landing the nine-furlong contest by three-quarters of a length, she was recording her fifth career victory and her second of 2015, having won over a mile at the same course back in January.

Bred by Darley in Australia, Amber Orchid is one of three winners out of the Hennessy mare Amber Shore, a half-sister to Stakes-winning filly Fabulous Friscoe.

Dubawi has sired no fewer than 16 Black type performers so far this year, headed by G1 winners Hunter’s Light and Shamal Wind. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £125,000 October 1st SLF.
