Fred Archer victory for Sheikhzayedroad

Son of Dubawi becomes the latest Stakes winner for his sire

Sheikhzayedroad, a five-year-old son of Dubawi, gained a well-deserved Stakes win on 28 June when landing the Listed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket.

Settled towards the rear early on in the mile-and-a-half contest, David Simcock’s charge was asked to quicken two furlongs out and ran on superbly to win by half a length from the fast-finishing Gatewood.

Sheikhzayedroad has now won on six occasions, including the Dubai Duty Free Gold World Cup at Meydan earlier this year. He was second in the G3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes on his last start, beaten just a nose.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and running in the colours of Mohammed Jaber, he is out of the Highest Honor mare Royal Secrets, herself a daughter of G2 winner Marble Maiden.

Dubawi has now sired 17 individual Stakes winners this year, including four G1 winners in 2,000 Guineas winner and St James’s Palace Stakes second Night Of Thunder, Lucky Nine, Tiger Tees and Prince Bishop.
