Fort Knox lands Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial

Son of Dubawi becomes his sire's 52nd Stakes winner

Dubawi has a son who looks capable of challenging for this seasons Classics, after Fort Knox came from last to first to win the Listed Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial. A winning juvenile when trained by Richard Hannon, he was making his third career start, and the first for new handler Thomas Carmody, when winning by one-and-three-quarter lengths.

Bred by A H Bennett, Fort Knox is out of the winning Green Desert mare Savannah Belle, and a full-brother to G2-winner Dubawi Gold, who was also second in both the English and Irish 2,000 Guineas. Savannah Belle also has a two-year-old colt by Dubawi who sold for 340,000Gns as a yearling in 2012, and is currently in foal to the same stallion.

Dubawi, who stands this season for £75,000 Oct 1st SLF, has now sired 52 Stakes winners with nine at the highest level. These include 2,000 Guineas hero Makfi, Monterosso, winner of the Dubai World Cup, and Poet's Voice who won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and stands alongside his sire for a fee of £12,000.
