Delectation delivers G2 victory

Shamardal’s son claims G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint

Fresh from a month away from the track, last season’s G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes runner-up Delectation (Shamardal) recorded his first Stakes victory, claiming the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint at Royal Randwick.

Settling second last in the field of 10, the Chris Waller-trained runner travelled through the field and as they straightened for home, jockey Hugh Bowman found himself in third position and ready to strike.

Surging past last season’s G1 Golden Slipper winner Mossfun, Delectation recorded his fifth career win, and first at Stakes level with his short half-head victory over Bring Me The Maid.

Bred by Greg Perry in Australia, Delectation is the first Stakes winner for the More Than Ready mare Grace And Power, a Listed-winning, G1 performer in the USA.

The sire of 74 Stakes winners, with 12 individual Stakes performers this year alone, Shamardal stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €70,000 October 1st SLF.
