Daughter of Cape Cross takes the G2 Princess of Wales’s in great style

It was Crystal Capella’s sixth black-type win on Thursday July 7, when she delivered a dominant eight-length victory in the G2 Princess of Wales’s Stakes at the July racecourse in Newmarket. The Sir Michael Stoute trained mare posted a top-level performance in a field that included two previous G1 winners. With this victory, the daughter of Cape Cross showed she has G1 potential as this was only her second racecourse appearance in 2011.

Bred by Southcourt Stud and owned by Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, Crystal Capella is out of the Listed-winning mare Crystal Star, who was covered this season by the Dalham Hall stallion Dubawi.

Cape Cross stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €35,000 Oct 1st, SLF. The winner was born in Cape Cross' 2005 crop which includes 14 other black type horses including Group winners Hatta Fort, Treat Gently, Mekong Melody and Russian Cross.
