Australian Stakes double for Dubawi

Arabian Gold and Boss Lane win Listed races at Caulfield and Randwick

Dubawi reached a significant milestone following the running of the Listed Ethereal Stakes at Caulfield October 19, with his three-year-old daughter Arabian Gold becoming his 60th Stakes winner with her victory.

G2-placed two starts earlier behind Australia’s best filly Guelph, Arabian Gold was sent out favourite in the 10f Ethereal Stakes. Given a lovely run by jockey Peter Robl, Arabian Gold settled in fourth position just behind the speed in the early stages. She hit the lead at the 200m mark and had a half-length advantage over Street Cry filly Solicit on the line.

Bred by Nick Moraitis, Arabian Gold is the first Stakes winner out of metropolitan-winning Vettori mare Coablo, a half-sister to Stakes performer Pentalikon.

An hour later at Randwick in New South Wales, three-year-old gelding Boss Lane made it a Stakes double for Dubawi with a fighting win in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes over 6f.

Having just his third start, Boss Lane raced on the speed and fought off all challengers in the straight to score a half-head victory.

Bred by Mr N and M Johnson, Boss Lane is out of juvenile winner Lyricalworks, a hal-sister to G1 winner Ruffles.

The sire of 11 G1 winners including Al Kazeem, Monterosso and Darley stallion Poet's Voice, Dubawi has now produced 22 Stakes winners in 2013.
