Milsons Point continued a great Australian spring for Darley stallion Blue Point, with victory in the Listed Gothic Stakes over 1,400m at Caulfield on Saturday.
After last week’s Australian stakes double from Blue Point via Point Barrow and Gerringong, the Ciaron Maher-trained three-year-old gelding Milsons Point became his sire’s 37th global stakes winner and his fifth in Australia, with a breakthrough Black Type success.
He prevaile after a well-timed ride from jockey Ben Allen, who guided Milsons Point through the field to challenge Miss Aria and prevail by a long neck, while Shooting Brake finished third, a further length behind.
It was a second win from eight starts for Milsons Point, a Godolphin homebred who had been placed in a Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) earlier this year.
He is out of the Lonhro mare Ventura, a sister to Denman and half-sister to Preserve, who are both G1 winners, as well as Ouachita, the dam of G1 Golden Slipper winner Kiamichi.
Blue Point has had a career-best year in 2026, with 16 global stakes winners.
