Impressive new winner for Perfect Power

Tropical Crown makes a successful debut at Beverley

First-season sire Perfect Power added a new winner to his record in fine style on Friday, 3 July when his daughter Tropical Crown ran out the eye-catching winner of the five-furlong Fillies’ Novice at Beverley.

Smartly away under Pierre-Louis Jamin, Karl Burke’s charge was settled in second and was always travelling well. Once asked for her effort, she picked up superbly and soon moved clear, eventually winning by two and three-quarter lengths.

Tropical Crown, a £100,000 two-year-old purchase for Perfect Power’s owner Sheikh Dalmook al Maktoum, is out of the Stakes-placed Blame mare Tutu Nguru. She is now dam of five winners, including Shamardal’s Black Type winner Rastafar and is herself the dam of G2 winner and G1 placegetter Gotta Have Her.

Perfect Power was an outstanding juvenile himself, winning the Norfolk at Royal Ascot before annexing the G1 Prix Morny and G1 Middle Park. He went on to win the G1 Commonwealth Cup back at Royal Ascot at three.
