Top Derby prospect for Dubawi

Delacroix easily lands the G3 Derby Trial at Leopardstown

Delacroix, a three-year-old son of Dubawi, remained perfect this season on Sunday, 11 May when winning the G3 Derby Trial. Run over ten furlongs at Leopardstown, he wasn’t hard pressed to record a two-and-three-quarter length victory.

He now has an impressive record of seven starts, four wins and three seconds including a victory over Stanhope Gardens (Ghaiyyath) in the G3 Autumn Stakes, a G3 Ballysax win and a nose defeat by Hotazhell (Too Darn Hot) in the G1 Futurity Trophy.

Bred by the Tepin Syndicate, he is out of the great mare Tepin, winner of six G1’s including the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Keeneland. Tepin has already produced a G1 winner through last seasons Prix de Royallieu heroine Grateful.

Dubawi has sired 12 Stakes winners this season including Walk Of Stars, who beat Imperial Emperor when landing the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge in January. He has six from his Classic crop including recent impressive Stakes winners Alpine Trail and Officer.
