Harry Angel’s excellent record in Australia continued as his four-year-old son War Machine gained a first victory in Group company when landing the G3 BRC Sprint at Doomben, before his four-year-old daughter Fair Angellica won the Listed Cathedral Stakes over six furlongs at Salisbury on Saturday, 24 May.
Placed handily, War Machine travelled strongly throughout the contest and showed an electric turn of foot when taken off the rail for a run, stretching clear to win by two and a half lengths. His next assignment is likely to be the G1 Stradbroke at Eagle Farm.
Bred by MDJ Bloodstock Ltd, War Machine is out of the winning Hussonet mare Caserta. He has now accumulated just shy of A$700,000 in prize money.
Already a winner in Listed company when landing the Prix Amandine at Deauville, Fair Angellica added a second Stakes victory to her CV when she gamely held on to win the Listed Cathedral Stakes. Making all of the running, she showed a willing attitude in the final furlong to hold off the challenge from Zoum Zoum, winning by half a length.

Bred in Great Britain by Jarosa Stud, Fair Angellica is the first foal out of the Lawman mare Fair’s Fair, whose dam Winning Sequence, is a half-sister to Prix Saint-Alary winner, Coquerelle.
Harry Angel boasts an outstanding record in Australia, where his son Private Harry recently landed the G1 The Galaxy at Rosehill Gardens before a 50% share in the colt sold for A$15 million. He is also the sire of G1 All Star Mile winner Tom Kitten. In the UK, his daughter Tiger Bay landed the Listed Ellen Chaloner Stakes at Newmarket, taking his total number of individual Stakes winners across both hemispheres to 20.
