Point Barrow the latest Group winner for Blue Point

Three-year-old filly flies to victory in the G3 Red Roses Stakes at Flemington

Blue Point added a new Group winner to his record in scintillating style on Thursday, 6 November when his progressive three-year-old daughter Point Barrow landed the G3 Red Roses Stakes, run over five and a half furlongs at Flemington.

Anthony and Sam Freedman’s charge was practically last as the field began to quicken from home but once asked, she unleashed a devastating turn of foot to storm to the lead and win by a length and a quarter.

Point Barrow was third in the G3 Scarborough Stakes on her racecourse debut in September and broke her maiden over six furlongs at Caulfield on her last start. She could well be campaigned at the highest level next season, with her trainers indicating after the race that the G1 Robert Sangster Stakes could be a possible target.

Point Barrow is one of two winners from two foals to race out of the G3 winner Take Pride and is from the family of five-time G1 winner Mummify.

Blue Point has now sired 24 individual Black Type winners, headed by Champion miler and new Darley stallion Rosallion, plus fellow G1 winners Big Evs and Kind Of Blue. His current two-year-olds include exciting G2 winner Samangan, while his 2025 yearlings made up to a million guineas in the ring.

Blue Point stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €100,000, Oct 1, SLF.
