Listed honours for son of Dubawi

Dilawar was an impressive winner of the Listed Grand Prix de Bordeaux

Dubawi’s ultra-consistent son Dilawar landed a fifth victory in Stakes company with a comfortable win in the Listed Grand Prix de Bordeaux over an extended mile and a furlong on Saturday, 24 May.

Settled at the rear of the field, Dilawar travelled strongly into the straight and came wide off the home turn, producing a strong turn of foot to win going away by a length at the line.

Bred by His Highness The Aga Khan’s Studs, Dilawar is out of G1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Dolniya, making him a half-brother to the G2-placed Dolayli.

Dubawi is enjoying another excellent season and recently sired his third winner of the G1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury when Lead Artist gained a first victory at the highest level. Since the Pattern began, no stallion has ever sired more winners of the race.

Dubawi has now sired an outstanding 298 individual Stakes winners, with 61 winning in Group 1 company. He looks to have a leading chance of claiming his first G1 Derby next month with impressive Leopardstown trial winner Delacroix.
