Impressive first winner for Naval Crown

Crown Of Ivy makes his racecourse debut a winning one in Doncaster Novice Stakes

Crown Of Ivy, trained by Tom Dascombe and ridden by William Cox, made his racecourse debut in the Ings Environmental Susan Duker Memorial EBF Novice Stakes over six furlongs at Doncaster on Saturday 2nd May 2026 and provided his sire, Naval Crown, with his first career winner from only his fifth runner.

Breaking smartly, Crown Of Ivy soon found himself in front and was able to dictate the pace. Despite briefly showing signs of greenness when challenged inside the final furlong, he soon overcame and quickly asserted himself, powering away to cross the line an increasing two and a half lengths ahead of his nearest challenger and looking a very smart prospect in the process.

Bred by Ms Agathe Lebailly, Crown Of Ivy is out of the mare Thaleia (Tagula) and is a half-brother to the dual winner King Of Bears.

Naval Crown has made an exceptional start to his stallion career, with four of his five runners thus far finishing in the money. His progeny include Dance A Jig who has finished runner-up in both starts to date in valuable Novice contests at Doncaster and Ascot. Naval Crown's first crop of yearlings have made up to €320,000 in the sales ring, with vendors being rewarded with a €54,000 average sales price. Naval Crown stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €9,000.
