Dubawi’s Left Hand lands the G1 Prix Vermeille

Three-year-old filly sweeps home at Chantilly to become the 24th winner at the highest level for her outstanding sire

Just an hour after Dubawi added a new Group winner when Shamreen won the G2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh, he recorded a new G1 winner in tremendous style when his three-year-old daughter Left Hand flew down the Chantilly straight to take the G1 Prix Vermeille.

Settled in fourth position under Maxime Guyon, Left Hand was asked for her effort as the field entered the home straight and reeling in long-time leader Endless Time, kept on superbly to win by half a length.

Left Hand, who is trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias, was last seen winning the G3 Prix Psyche at Deauville at the end of July. She won once at two and was fourth in this year’s Prix Saint Alary, before finishing just half a length behind La Cressonniaire when second in the G1 Prix de Diane.

Owned and bred by Wertheimer et Frere, Left Hand is out of the G2-winning Singspiel mare Balladeuse. The dam is a half-sister to G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Plumania, who finished second the Vermeille herself. They are from the family of another Prix Vermeille winner in Indian Rose.

Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 24 individual G1 winners, including his sons Poet’s Voice, Night Of Thunder and Hunter’s Light – all now Darley stallions.
