Dubawi colt lights up Goffs Orby Sale at €1.4m

First foal out of the G1 winner Beauty Parlour tops the two-day sale

A colt by Dubawi stole the headlines at the Goffs Orby yearling sale on Wednesday when selling for €1,400,000. The last lot into the ring, the colt was offered as part of the dispersal of the blue-chip Wildenstein stock, and duly lived up to all expectations.

As the first foal out of the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Beauty Parlour, the colt descends from the family of Might And Power, winner of the Melbourne Cup and champion older horse in Australia, as well as the Champion Hong Kong miler Lucky Owners. The French-born colt was purchased by John Ferguson.

New Approach made a splash early on Wednesday when a filly by the G1 sire was purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for €675,000. As a half-sister to the Classic-placed duo Cuis Ghaire and Gile Na Greine, the filly has huge appeal as a broodmare prospect as well as a racehorse.

A choicely-bred daughter of Shamardal was also in demand, with Mountarmstrong Stud's daughter of the Champion mare Alexander Goldrun knocked down to Japanese owner Koji Maeda for €600,000.
