€150,000 Epaulette filly tops Day 1 of Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale

Epaulette provides a second sales session-topper in five days following €92,000 result in Milan on Friday

A filly by first-crop sire Epaulette carried all before her at the opening session of the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale on Tuesday when knocked down to Amanda Skiffington for €150,000.

Lot 122, consigned by Maurice Burns' Rathasker Stud, is a half-sister to this season's juvenile winner Miss Cogent, out of the Mr Greeley mare Onomatomania, and hails from a family of smart Stakes performers in the US.

"This filly is very classy, a great walker. I liked the Epaulettes as foals and this filly comes from a very good farm," Skiffington commented after signing for the filly on behalf of owner Chris Humber. The filly will go into training with Hugo Palmer.

Tuesday's sale represented the second session-topping strike for Epaulette in the space of five days. The young sire was also responsible for the sale topper at the SGA Yearling Sale in Milan on Friday, when a half-sister to the Stakes winners Voice Of Love (Poet's Voice) and Time Chant was knocked down for €92,000.

From 24 lots sold so far during the current sales season, Epaulette's yearlings are averaging €39,706, more than five times his stud fee.
