Zazou wins his fifth Group race

Son of Shamardal takes the G3 Grosser Preis der Landeshauptstadt Dusseldorf

Shamardal's G1 winner Zazou added another Group victory to his C.V. on Sunday October 6 when winning the G3 Grosser Preis der Landeshauptstadt Dusseldorf over a mile. Now six, his previous victories include the G1 Premio Roma and the G2 Oppenheim Union-Rennen, with his victory today being his third at G3 level.

Bred by Stiftung Gestut Fahrhof, Zazou is one of five winners bred by the Lomitas mare Zaza Top, who herself was a Stakes winning three-year-old.

Shamardal is now the sire of 15 Stakes winners this year including a pair of G1-winners in Dan Excel and Maybe Discreet, the highly-rated G2-winner Mukhadram, the Irish-bred Puissance de Lune who has won two G2's in Australia and was a close G1 second on Saturday, and the high-class juvenile filly Ihtimal, winner of the G2 May Hill Stakes before running third in the G1 Fillies' Mile.
