The World’s best Turf horse strikes again

Shamardal’s stunning son Able Friend takes the G1 Champions Mile, heading home a Darley-sired 1-2-3

Able Friend, the World’s leading turf horse, won his fourth G1 race on Sunday May 3, when easily dispatching his rivals in the Champions Mile at Sha Tin. The stunning looking son of Shamardal never had to come off the bridle to beat Rewarding Hero (Exceed And Excel) and Dan Excel (Shamardal), giving Darley stallions a notable 1-2-3 in the prestigious contest.

Now the winner of over €5 Million in prize money, Able Friend will hopefully next prove his class on the International stage when lining up in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Bred by Ramsey Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Able Friend is the first Stakes winner bred out of the Stakes-winning three-year-old Ponte Piccolo (Volksraad), who is herself a half-sister to South African G1-winner Global News.

Able Friend is one of ten Stakes winners for Shamardal in 2015 including the Group winners Tryster, Amaron and the evergreen French Navy. He is standing this current season at a fee €70,000 alongside his juvenile G1-winning son Casamento (€5,000).
