Winning run continues for Poet’s Voice

Double on the day for first-season sire as Arab Poet and Electra Voice take his tally of winners in the last ten days to seven

First-season sire Poet’s Voice has been enjoying a successful spell of late, adding a new Stakes winner in Voice Of Love and impressive Newmarket maiden winner Colour Me Happy in the last week alone. On 27 October, he recorded two new winners when his son Arab Poet justified odds-on favouritism to take the six-furlong maiden at Lingfield, closely followed by Electra Voice in the seven-furlong nursery.

Settled off the pace under Ryan Moore, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt began to make progress approaching the final turn and once in front, ran on well to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Arab Poet, who runs in the colours of Saeed Suhail, is the first foal to race out of the winning Shamardal mare Floral Beauty.

Under two hours later, Electra Voice prevailed in the seven-furlong nursery, weaving through the field under Tom Queally to take the lead close to home and win by a short head.

Electra Voice is also out of a winning Shamardal mare in Electra Star, herself a granddaughter of 1,000 Guineas second Dabaweyaa and from the family of G1-winning two-year-old Tiggy Wiggy.

Poet’s Voice has now sired no fewer than seven winners in the last ten days. He is also sire of Stakes winner Whitman, plus Bathos and Montsarrat –who have won four and three times respectively.
