Time Test passes Brigadier Gerard trial with flying colours

Talented Dubawi colt makes a Group-winning seasonal debut at Sandown, with Teofilo’s Scottish third

Four-year-old Dubawi colt Time Test took a decisive step towards next month’s G1 Princes Of Wales’s Stakes at Sandown on 26 May when defying a five-pound penalty to land a strong renewal of the G3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes.

Making his seasonal debut (having missed the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup last Sunday due to the ground), the Roger Charlton-trained colt was settled in dead last under Ryan Moore and was content to let Teofilo’s son Scottish dictate the early pace. Once entering the home straight, Time Test’s jockey waited for the gap to appear and outbattled Western Hymn in gutsy fashion to win by a neck. Scottish, who was making his debut for Godolphin, finished a creditable third.

Time Test won once as a two-year-old and opening his Black type account in last year’s G3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot (pictured). He went on to win the G2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket last September.

Owned and bred by Juddmonte, Time Test is out of the G1-winning mare Passage Of Time (Dansili), a half-sister to fellow G1 winner Timepiece and a full sister to G2 winner Father Time.

Time Test becomes the seventh Group winner so far this year for Dubawi, also sire of G1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Postponed, plus Safety Check, So Mi Dar, Sheikhzayedroad, Dartmouth and Raseed.
