Three winners in two days for Vale Of York

Millar Rose and Little Rooster open their accounts

First-season stallion Vale Of York recorded two winners on the day on Wednesday July 9 when his daughter Millar Rose scored over Catterick's minimum trip, swiftly followed by victory for Little Rooster at Naas. Less than 24 hours after Thecornishassassin made all the running at Lingfield Park, Millar Rose battled gamely to record her first success by a head, appreciating the faster underfoot conditions.

Later the same day, Little Rooster made a successful debut, racing in mid division until taking the lead a furlong from home. The Paul Deegan-trained filly kept to her task well to win by three quarters of a length.

Bred by Patrick Kelly and M J Foley and bought by current connections as a yearling at Tattersalls Ireland last year, Millar Rose is a half-sister to four winners and out of the winning Night Shift mare Barbera. A granddaughter of G1-mare Bright Crocus, Barbera also has a full-sister yearling to Millar Rose.

Little Rooster was bred by Killarkin Stud and is out of the unraced Machiavellian mare Tantalize, a full sister to Stakes winner Hypnotize - herself dam of G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Hooray.

Vale Of York, thrilling winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, has now sired eight individual winners including the unbeaten Fontanelice, winner of all her four starts including her last three at Stakes level and the impressive Haxby, last seen when running a creditable fifth in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
