Third stakes victory for Hunter’s Light

Son of Dubawi takes the Listed Churchill Stakes

Dubawi's three-year-old son Hunter's Light registered his third Stakes success of the campaign on Saturday November 12, when landing the Listed Churchill Stakes on the Lingfield Park Polytrack. A winner of the Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton in July and the Foundation Stakes in September, he battled gamely to score a narrow victory over Circumvent.

Bred by Darley, he is out of the winning Barathea mare Portmanteau, herself a half-sister to G2 Grand Prix de Deauville winner Courteous. From the family of Darshaan, Portmanteau also has a two-year-old filly by Manduro in training with Andre Fabre called Linda Radlett and filly foal by Dubawi.

The sire of 39 Stakes performers in 2011, Dubawi has four top-level winners spanning four continents this year. In Germany, Waldmark was victorious in their Derby, while in the U.S., Dubawi Heights landed a brace of G1’s, the Gamely and Yellow Ribbon Stakes. In South Africa, Happy Archer landed her second G1-success in the Garden Province Stakes, while top Australia filly Secret Admirer took the Epsom Handicap to go with her 2010 G1 triumph in the Flight Stakes.

Dubawi will cover for a fee of £75,000, Oct 1st, SLF at Dalham Hall Stud this season.
