Third Stakes success for Dubawi mare

Shamal Wind claims back-to-back WJ Adams Stakes in Australia

Speedy Dubawi mare Shamal Wind recorded her third Stakes victory at Sandown, January 26, winning the Listed WJ Adams Stakes over 1000m for the second consecutive year.

Resuming from a spell, Shamal Wind settled just off the pace in the early stages before unleashing her trademark powerful sprint in the straight to win by a widening two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Bred by Mark Edwards and Widden Stud, Shamal Wind is the only named foal for winning Machiavellian mare Firemaid, a half-sister to French Stakes winner Bezrin.

Dubawi, who has sired 16 G1 winners including five last year, stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £125,000 October 1st SLF alongside his G1-winning son Poet's Voice who stands at £12,000 October 1st SLF.
