Sword Of Light shows plenty of fight to register her first Stakes win

Talented New Approach filly now heads to the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes

Promising New Approach filly Sword Of Light staked her G1 claims in style after a fast-finishing victory in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield on 26 January.

The chestnut filly, trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, progressed from an impressive, wide-margin debut victory at Echuca to a strong win in the fillies' preview (run over five furlongs) for jockey Damian Lane to register her first Stakes success. Sword Of Light is now likely to head towards the six-furlong G1 Blue Diamond Stakes, due to take place on 27 February.

Bred by Hesket Bloodstock, Sword Of Light is out of the King’s Best mare Joyeuse, a five-time winner and Stakes-placed mare who has had two foals to race including Sword Of Light. She has a yearling filly and a weanling colt by Exceed And Excel.

New Approach has now sired 24 Stakes winners including last year's G2 Futurity Stakes winner Herald The Dawn, a full brother to Dawn Approach, Glamorous Approach - winner of the Zetland Stakes, and August Stakes winner Beautiful Romance.

New Approach stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £60,000, October 1st, SLF.
