Son of Exceed And Excel proves too hot for his rivals

Thermal Current wins G3 DC McKay Stakes in South Australia

Thermal Current, a son of Exceed And Excel, recorded his second G3 victory with a comfortable win in the DC McKay Stakes at Morphettville, May 2.

Jockey Dwayne Dunn was able to overcome an awkward barrier draw within the first furlong of the 1100m race as he crossed down to the rail behind the two leaders. Thermal Current strode to the lead shortly after straightening for the run home and went on to post a dominant one-length victory.

A homebred for David and Jenny Moodie’s Contract Racing Pty Ltd, Thermal Current is out of Stakes-winning Twining mare Soaressa, a half-sister to Listed winners Assertive Eagle and Impressive Eagle.

Exceed And Excel has enjoyed a tremendous start to 2015 with Thermal Current his fifth Group winner and 10th Stakes winner of the year.
