Second Listed success for Hunter’s Light

Son of Dubawi lands Foundation Stakes at Goodwood

Dubawi's three-year-old son Hunter's Light registered his second Stakes success of the campaign on Wednesday September 21, when easily landing the Listed Foundation Stakes at Goodwood. A winner of the Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton in July, he was held up near the rear early before making smooth headway turning for home. Taking the lead two furlongs out, he never looked in any danger, running on well to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Bred by Darley, he is out of the winning Barathea mare Portmanteau, herself a half-sister to G2 Grand Prix de Deauville winner Courteous. From the family of Darshaan, Portmanteau also has a two-year-old filly by Manduro in training with Andre Fabre called Linda Radlett and filly foal by Dubawi.

Hunter's Light success was the second of the afternoon for Dubawi at Goodwood, after his two-year-old son Genius Step was the impressive victor of their opening seven-furlong maiden.

The sire of 30 Stakes performers in 2011, Dubawi has three top-level winners spanning three continents this year. In Germany, Waldmark was victorious in their Derby, while in the U.S., Dubawi Heights landed the Gamely Stakes before just being beaten in the Beverly D. In South Africa, Happy Archer landed her second G1-success in the Garden Province Stakes.
